Vampire
Vampires have existed nearly as long as recorded history, though many accounts have been lost over time. The one constant of these night-dwelling beings is their preference for blood. All vampires subsist off of it no matter what age or what origin. Through the ages, there have been rumours about vampires, that they can wield magic, shapeshift and walk in the shadows. Some humans from watching films may even think they sparkle it's far from the case here. All of these rumours are false. Though they do possess the power to venture into the daylight, however only if it's cloudy and not direct sunlight. If they are caught in direct sunlight this cases serious burns, which brings them great pain. Vampires are, however, powerful, dangerous, and masterful predators of speed and stealth. Their cunning is as lethal as it is inspiring.
Vampire Venom
A vampire’s venom is both unique and complex. Fed into their saliva by ducts in their retractable fangs, the venom can produce various reactions based on the vampires intent. The power within the venom is most often used to subdue a victim once a vampire has taken hold; Their intent can leave a victim purged of the memory of the experience, with a pleasant dream, or a savage nightmare.
It is worth noting that vampire venom has unpredictable effects on other supernatural beings. Thus if a witch is bitten it would have the least effect on them as they are beings that wealed their own magic. If a vampire is to feed off a witch, he could have a surge in power as their blood is laced with magic, however, too much could cause the vampire to go power mad and rather insane. Further, werewolves are not affected normally by vampire venom, instead of suffering, in crippling pain, nausea, and muscular weakness that can last up to a few hours, in the worst case death, of a werewolf, (these are not skin changer). When a vampire then feeds off of werewolves he would be sick himself, so this usually doesn't happen and they stay away from each other. NEED TO ADD OTHER FEEDING EFFECTS FOR OTHER SPECIES HERE!
Creation
When a victim is bitten by a vampire who has intent to turn them, several things happen. There is a specific ritual that happens, they have to have first been bitten and then blood must be swapped between the creator and victim allowing some of the blood from the creature to enter the victims' system. This can take up to a week to reach its full effect, throughout which, the victim will suffer severe nightmares and hallucinations, great pain like severe hunger pains. For that reason, most fledgelings experiencing a transition are kept contained by their creator until it is complete. By the tenth day following the exchange of blood, Thirst is un-quenched and they would be feeding on their creator. This is usually the main source of blood for them during their change. During this period they develop extreme sensitivity to the sun. After the initial first 10 days of feeding on their creator, they have to complete their change by feeding on the blood of a victim if they don't accomplish this they will die as they can't compleat their transformation. When they transition, a fledgeling vampire grows more beautiful. Fledgelings would stay with their creator for most of the time for the rest of their life becoming part of their coven. However some do move on, but there would always be a link with their creator and they would be able to sense their presence. This would only work if they are in close proximity.
Reproduce: The main way vampires reproduce in a way is through their bite and turning of a victim. Female Vampires can only reproduce once in their life. However at great risk. They could have up to 5 children survive, though this is very uncommon with one or two usually surviving. Not every female vampire would do this usually only high ranked or they need to produce an air to the coven. However, it is not li a pregnancy in humans. They expel fertile eggs in a membrane sake which will then be placed in a bath of fluid. Inside witch, the children would grow for up to 5 years, though at this stage until they hatch looking like a normal human baby, they are cannibalistic and often the strongest one or two would eat their siblings. These just like other born vampires would grow and age up till around 16 where their ageing would freeze and slowly ageing until they look mid 20/30 for the rest of their lives.
However, a male vampire could impregnate a host for their child. However, this would kill the host upon coming to full term and they would often be the first meal for the baby. These children would be half vampire. They would have the same abilities as a vampire however their age limit would be limited to much less of a normal vampire. Humans, Witches, and skin-changers are the only beings able to be the host but they all will come to the same fate. Thus the children of a witch host could possess small power as well as vampire trates, this is not the case in Skin changer the vampire abilities outway the skin changer abilities. All Halflings would be barren and wouldn't be able to reproduce even though venom. This is the vampires way of keeping lines pure.
Bloodlust
A necessary evil for a vampire, they live and thrive on blood. Animal, human, Skin changer, Witch, it doesn’t matter. Vampires often describe it as a Lust or Thirst. It is undying, unforgiving, all-consuming. Most adults will feed at least once nightly/daily to keep the thirst at bay. Vampires who have not fed in over two weeks, become unmanageable in a bloodlust rage. When this state of mind overtakes the vampire they are ruthless, unthinking. Their bodies may look frailer with gray skin and bones showing where they ought and eyes gone red with lust, but they are far more dangerous in this state. Fledglings are the most frequent sufferers of a Bloodlust as they are still learning how to control their abilities and contain their Thirst through regulated feedings. It is much more rare for an elder vampire to experience one unless they have failed to maintain their own feeding regimen.
Ageing
The only truly immortal species, a Vampire can, technically, live forever. Though with the level of technology in the real world this is increasing in difficulty. Upon transition, a vampire ceases to age. Their bodies become frozen in time although they do gain the Allure of beauty that comes with the race. There are four tiers to the aging of vampires.
Fledgelings are the youngest and least experienced; excluding a Bloodlust, they can be easily overwhelmed by a more senior vampire, as this time they are unable to fully use their venom and usually completely comse the blood of their victims. These are the most dangerous time for vampires as they kill all they bite. At around the 50 year mark of being turned, they are stable enough to be allowed into the world on their own. This would be the time they attend school. If they are born they would look around 16 or so.
Youngling would be the age they attend school and they would still be classed as such till they have master bending the memories of their victims with their venom. Neither Fledglings nor Younglings have the stability in the bite to create other vampires. Halflings and born vampires by the time they reach around 250 would look like they are in their mid 20/30.
Adult stage is around the 250th year, at some point after they have learned to control memory in a victim through their venom. They are also able to create other vampires at this point. They would stay in the adult age unless they have the privilege to become an elder. These are usually passed down in the bloodlines of the covens. Adults can come and do as they please however if the coven summons them they usually come back to the elders house where all would congregate.
Elders are the oldest in knowledge of the world and their coven. Elders would be the oldest in the coven and would have a council of the adult vampires older than 700, to help run a coven and what is best for vampires. Their is four main covens in america, two in the english isles and a one in europe. However, there are many wondering vampires. Their is not much document of any other large covens in the rest of the world. However, this does not mean they don't exist. Halflings that have been born though a host would have a shorter life span and would rarely reach 1000 years old.
Physiology
Vampires do not generate body heat and do not breathe. Their hearts beat, but slowly, and they do not metabolize food normally, however they can taste the food, but would have no use for it other then to blend in within the normal world. Vampires can also force their lungs to simulate the function of breathing, though it is just the movement they are not taking air in. their heartbeat is the exception to the rule this is pumping blood, though at a much slower rate and will even respond to emotional activity like stress or physical desire. When they go into Bloodlust state their heart beat is going much faster rate, ceasing only when the heart rate returns to normal or the body has human levels of blood restored to it.
Strength
In a fight, a vampire and werewolf, skin changer will generally be evenly matched. The vampire tends to be the faster of the two, often relying more on stealth and speed over brute strength and the power of the pack. They must rely on their cunning in a fight. Overall, though, a vampire can easily outmatch the other races, particularly the mundane human. Similar to werewolves and Skin changers, vampires can regenerate from almost any injury, including beheading unless the head and body are burned. While a vampire can regenerate a limb, it requires a great deal of blood to recover, time and energy. So if a fight happens and this happens a vampire would retreat and this usually increasing the risk of Bloodlust. Age can correlate with power, but age only plays a role up until the age of 700. At that age, a vampire reaches his or her peak and is on the same level as an elder with no further advancements physically. Feeding and general exercise of power also comes into play. So the older you get you usually are more powerful however for the adults older the 700 if they don't exercise their powers regularly they could be overpowered.
Weaknesses
All vampires of any origin have several specific weaknesses they must learn early on or risk a swift and unpleasant death.
Sunlight: Direct sunlight if caught out would result in burning and Exposure for too long will result in death. As fire is the main thing that kills a Vampire. This is why in most cases vampires would not dwell in places with direct sunlight all year round. It begins usually as a rapidly spreading sunburn that develops into nasty blisters, and eventually chars to ash the longer the exposure. Vampires need less sleep than other speise a few hours a night at most. With modern technology able to completely screen a dwelling from direct sun, such antiquities as sleeping coffins are almost entirely obsolete. Though they can still be found in the main covens and elders dwellings.
Thresholds: Many old folk tales warn to take care when inviting people into your home; there is power in invitation and rejection. All vampires are restricted from accessing a well-kept home without an invitation. Furthermore, an invitation can be revoked at any time, prohibiting the vampire from entering a space previously permitted into. This even counts to coven houses vampires have the power over others to expel them from entering. For the school, they would be invited through a letter to join the school. This would have been requested from the creator/parent of said vampires upon the decision to send them to school.
Death: Despite their seeming immortality, vampires can be killed. Over exposure from sunlight can turn them to ask. Drinking too much of a werewolves blood can too. There's things that will immobilize a vampire. Otherwise, unless they are beheaded and burned, never trust that the vampire will remain dead.
Faith: Consecrated ground, like that of a church, temple, or graveyard can restrict a vampire’s entry exactly as a dwelling would. Objects of faith will only hold power over a vampire if the wielder of the object is devout in their faith.
Holy Water: Holy Water unlike objects can hold more powere against a vampire. Water, ritually created and blessed by someone of faith serves to hold that faith almost as a witch’s potions would hold a spell. Against a vampire, holy water burns painfully and weakens them significantly.
Silver: Considered to be a “pure” metal, unalloyed silver causes mild burns around the point of entry if used to cause tissue damage to a vampire. It is considered alchemically pure to witches, so can be found a lot around a kʌvən (Coven) of witches.
